How it all started
Born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California, Chef Gerardo Antonio's passion for cooking began with his family. Inspired by his grandmother and his father, a lifelong cook of Filipino heritage, Gerardo blends generations of family recipes with the bold, fresh flavors of Northern Baja.

His love for the ocean began in 1987 with his first fishing trip, sparking a lifelong connection to the Sea of Cortez and Pacific coast. That passion, combined with his culinary roots, shaped his philosophy: quality ingredients, simple preparation and unforgettable flavor.

In 2022, Gerardo's fishing team, Baja Catch 22, made history by winning the Copa Baja California championship. That same year, Antonio's Baja Catch 22 was born, bringing his vision of authentic Baja-inspired cuisine to life. What started as a food truck in El Centro in 2023 has grown into a full-service restaurant celebrating the best of Baja and the Imperial Valley.
